Many of our friends/supporters have been highly interested in the results of this very important debate on who muhammed was. I (Ken) went to this debate a little bit wary of what the atmosphere might be like. After all, we were going to be arguing that Muhammed was indeed a fraud. In many countries, this sort of debate would land you in jail awaiting a death penalty. As I arrived at Chem 194, one of the university's largest lecture halls I saw a large crowd milling about. It seems that this subject was one that produced much interest.
I went inside to get myself a seat when a thought occurred to me. What if there were not enough seats? My taking a seat would mean another person would not be able to see the debate. So I waited in the back of the lecture hall and sure enough, every seat in the lecture hall was taken up. Eventually the lecture hall staff kicked all of us out who did not have a seat for reasons of fire safety. So for the debate, I ended up out in the lobby. However, I was able to sneak in at the end of the debate. I saw as our debator made some serious accusations about Muhammed's character and I saw the Muslim debator make (I thought) unconvincing defense and then the debate ended without incident.
Praise God for the forum we had to present the Christian point of view. Although die hards on either side were unlikely to be convinced, our true audience was the people who were still on the fence about Christianity and Islam and as far as I could tell, we reached a few of this audience. At the Bible giveaway table, several muslims came by to pick up Bibles so they could check out Christianity. "Believing comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God"
