As 2007 draws to a close we realize that we are really amazed where God has brought us in our lives. This year we each turned 35. We did the math and realize that with 14 years of marriage and over three years of dating that we’ve been together over half of our lives! Crazy to think about really. It’s also strange to think now that when we married in 1993, we never anticipated that we would eventually go into full-time Christian ministry. Especially, when we think that our ministry really is the main focus of most everything we do in life now. It’s been an exciting journey.
Now that we’ve spent the last year and a half as parents… sometimes I wonder what took us so long to want to have a family. Mia is a wonderful gift from God, and we are praying and hoping for another now. Mia would be a great big sis. She has a very nurturing nature and loves other kids and babies.
By Christmas Mia will be 18 months old. She has a fascination with Elmo and likes to read with mom and dad. She is really talking a lot now and she’s like a parrot… repeating everything! We about fell over at Thanksgiving when she starting using a few sentences saying things like “What’s that mama?” and to her cousin “Read to me Josh.” It’s really shocking to have a bald toddler talking in sentences to you. We both agree, Mia is at a really fun age.
As we look to 2008 we are excited to see where God takes us. We are hoping to take Mia on a real vacation to celebrate our 15th anniversary together. It would be nice to travel with her somewhere that doesn’t involve a speaker and meetings. Seems like we are always taking her to conferences, but she doesn’t seem to mind. Mostly though, we are happy just to be a family.
Wishing you and yours a blessed Holiday Season and a Happy New Year! Much Love, Ken, Amy, & Mia
