This Winter Conference, thanks to a very generous donor, the region was able to offer 50 scholarships to help Ethnic students attend. Without these funds many of these students would not have been able to go, including 9 from our own campus! As a result this was the largest Latino attendance we have ever had at a Winter Conference.
Cindy one of our graduating Seniors, who has been in our Destino Movement at Davis since we came to campus in the fall of 2005, had the opportunity to cast vision for the need for Destino movements to be launched (and laborers to launch them) to over 800 of her peers. She was interview by Dave Lowe, our Campus Director at Davis from 2005-08, he is now the Regional Director for Ethnic Student Ministries. He is committed to focusing on launching new Destino Teams and Ministries in our region, as it is the most underdeveloped and understaffed. Because Latino students are the fastest growing community on campuses in our region, the need right now is pressing.
Over the years we have found Winter Conference to be a pivotal event in the lives of our students (and ourselves!). It solidifies vision for them reach the lost and devote their lives to Christ. This year was no exception. Three of our students went back to campus with a vision to serve in Mexico over spring break and three are expressing more concrete desires to serve full-time in ministry for a time after college. Praise God!
