Dear Friends,
I hope this email finds you well. Ken and I are traveling to Orange County tomorrow to prepare for our short term summer project to San Salvador, El Salvador. We are truly excited! The 11 students that will be traveling with us will arrive on Tuesday for pre-project briefings and we will fly out of the country on Thursday night.
We wanted to let you know what you can specifically pray for, for us and our team. As of yesterday, our students still needed to raise another 15,000 (combined) to fully fund this project. We are facing the real problem that right now, because of lack of funding, we may have to send half of our team home. This is a great concern on our hearts because, even if they go home, these students will still owe money for their lodgings and plane flight for this trip. If this were to happen, the chance of these students ever stepping out in faith and going on a summer project like this again will be greatly diminished. Unfortunately, all the students who are short on funding are our minority students involved in Destino (they are raising funds from among poorer communities and honestly it is also counter culture). Our fear is that if our students funding goal isn’t met and the ethnic students from this project are left behind, the effects could be highly negative to the Destino ministry at UCD and, our hopes for future attempts of reaching out abroad within our movement. Please pray for our team and for their funding to come in by the time we need to board the plane on Thursday. We are really asking God to work a miracle at this point. Would you take a minute to lift this up right now?
