    Personal Update

    September 30, 2009

    Dear Friends,

I don’t know where to start other than to say we’re having a rough time… personally, professionally, physically, financially… just in so many ways. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when it all started, but I can tell you it escalated in the summer and now even more in recent weeks.

It’d be impossible to list everything that’s been challenging, stretching, or painful… but recently it’s been mostly physical and we need your prayers for strength, favor, and mercy. Our family has been constantly sick or injured since the beginning of June. In just the last two weeks, as we have been launching the new school year, we’ve all suffered from sinus infections, some sort of stomach flu, and Mia and Andi had pink eye. If that was it, I probably wouldn’t be sending this email… but this past weekend Ken dislocated his shoulder again… and Monday we (a month after finding out that we were expecting our third child) found that we’d lost that child in utero. We’re devastated and crying for mercy now.

Spiritually, I think we’ve been okay; this week’s been hard though, we feel numb and alone. Ministry has been rewarding, the one shining light… We’ve seen 9 people come to Christ since May. One at the end of the School year before we left campus in May, Seven on Summer Project in Santa Monica (14 total were saved there with our group before we left… 7 by Ken personally), and one just today at school if you can believe it… I think it’s God telling us to hang in there maybe.

I got a call from the Dr today to tell me to come in for more tests tomorrow… I guess my hormone levels were too high for someone who should have miscarried and now they want to ensure I don’t have an ectopic pregnancy… pray this isn’t so, it’s all been too painful as is…

Much Love, Ken and Amy (Mia & Andi)
