Prayer Requests

We are listing some of our prayer requests in advance now, since a few people have asked us if we would. We covet your prayers, so we will put as much in advance as we can. Thank you for your interest in our prayer requests. We believe in the power of prayer. God hears our prayers and we could certainly use yours.

Below is a list of some of our prayer requests. Please pray as you feel led.

    November 2009
  • Praise God for Javi who accepted Christ with Ken at the beginning of the Quarter.
  • Pray for Cross 09 (Nov 9-11). See more details in October below. As Ken and the San Jose State Team to hosts students and staff at SJSU from all over our region for this three day culture crossing outreach. Pray the final details to come together smoothly, for the gospel to be spread, and for a new Destino movement to be launched at SJSU.
  • Pray for our ministry as we travel to our Regional Staff Conference and Crossroads (our annual recruiting conference) just before Thanksgiving with two of our seniors whom we are inviting to join us on Staff. Pray for the Lord to raise up future laborers at this conference.
  • Pray for Ken as he travels to Orlando the end of November to speak with the National Operations team as to how we can contribute to the efforts of the national team as the equip our labors for service. Pray that Gods will be evident for our lives.
  • Pray for our family as this a huge travel month for us.
    • That we would be well rested and the stress of travel would have minimal impact on us as a family.
    • That we would continue to heal from the unexpected loss of our third pregnancy.
    October 2009
  • Pray for us as prepare for Cross 09. It is a three day outreach (Nov 9-11) where we will be crossing cultures on campuses for "the sake of the Cross". Ken representing Destino is planning in conjunction with San Jose State Team to host students and staff at SJSU for this outreach.
  • Pray for Tiffany and Cindy as they continue to raise their support for ministry with Destino this year. Pray that their support teams would be completed so they may get to campus soon.
  • Pray for our family.
    • That we would be submitted to the Holy Spirit in all we do.
    • That we would be healthy and content in all circumstances.
    August & September 2009
  • Pray for us as we have a lot to process after our many summer experiences on project in Santa Monica and at CSU for our national Staff conference with our co-laberors. We need to determine God's will in our next steps in ministry. It seems God has skilled Ken with a unique set of computer programming skills and Field experience that is valuable to the National office as they seek to equip our labors to be more effective in their work. There are also so few laboring for the Latino Community in Destino... and Ken is so gifted at reaching the lost, we need the Lords direstion as to where we are to be.
  • Praise God for the 14 who came to Christ on our Summer Missions Project in Santa Monica while we were there, 7 with Ken personally. More came to Christ with the students in the 3 weeks after we left but I'm not sure how many. But, more praises there too.
  • Continue to pray for Tiffany and Cindy as they prepare for ministry with Destino this year! Pray that their support teams would be completed so they may get to campus soon.
  • Pray for our family as we prepare for the new school year.
    • That we would find balance in our lives between ministry and family.
    • That we would be healthy, we had a lot of illnesses, accidents and injuries since just before we left for Santa Monica in June.
    June & July 2009
  • Pray for us as we report to our summer assignment on June 4th. We are going to be serving as staff on the Santa Monica Summer Project.
  • Pray for Tiffany and Cindy as they prepare for ministry with Destino next year! Thank the Lord for this provision of laborers in our ministry!
  • Pray for our family as we will be traveling alot this summer.
    • We'll be in Santa Monica, California in June-July for an in-country mission trip with over 50 students from around the country. Pray for the Lord to work in the hearts of these students as they reach out to students in the LA area, one of the 10 most strategic cities in the world to reach people for Christ.
    • Also, pray for us as we will be traveling to Fort Collins, Colorado with thousands of other Campus Crusade missionarys for our bi-annual national staff conference the end of July.
    May 2009
  • Pray for us as we wrap up our year, our last day on campus is June 3rd. Pray we would finish the year strong as a ministry. Also, pray that the Lord be in the midst of all our plans for next year as we challenge & prepare new students to lead. Specifically pray God to in the midst of our spring retreat this month where we will be doing much of this planning.
  • Continue to pray for Tiffany and Cindy as they begin to raise funds for their internships with Destino! They have many cultural obstacles facing them as they rely on God to fund their ministies for next year.
  • Continue to pray for more laborers to be raised up to minister within Destino as there are very few ministering to this fast growing community on campuses around the country. Specifically pray for men within the latino community to respond to Gods call to help fulfill the Great Commission.
  • Pray for us as we raise the necessary funds this month to cover the costs of our summer assignments and travel.
    • Pray for our family as we will be traveling alot this summer.

  • Pray for Tiffany and Cindy as they travel to the Stinter and Intern weekend this month to learn how to raise funds and prepare for ministry with Destino next year! Thank the Lord for this provision of laborers in our ministry!
  • Pray along with us as we challenge Byron a graduate from fall quarter to join Tiffany and Cindy in the LA area next year.
  • Pray for us as we travel with our family to our Regional Retreat the end of this month.

  • Continue to pray for our Prayer, Care, Share outreach that ends March 6th.
  • Pray for our students traveling to Mexico and San Jose for outreach over spring break.
  • Pray for laborers to be raised up to lead and minister in Destino next year. Pray for Cindy and Tiffany from our campus who are in the application process.
  • Pray for us to finish the quarter strong.
  • Pray for our staff team dynamics as we are in uncharted waters in a new paradime, Ken is a team leader assigned to a team leader, the only one in this position in our region at this time.

  • Pray for our family as we travel to the local young life camp with our team and their families to meet up with human resources for team building and traing and to check out the camp for our fall retreat for next year.
  • Pray for Ken and the other leaders of Destino as they gather with their student leaders outside of Fresno for a leadership retreat this month. Pray for Ken as he speaks to this group and casts vision for them to join us.
  • Pray for God to raise up students from our graduating class in Destino to intern and labor with us next year.
  • Pray for the UCD campus as we train our students and reach out to our campus the end of the month with our "Prayer, Care, Share" outreach.

  • Pray for us as we launch our winter quarter. Pray we would not be hindered by all the travel we do this time of year and that the Lord be in the midst of all our plans.
  • Pray for Ken as he prepares for and travel to our Regions Missional team leader conference the end of this month. Pray Ken to grow into this new leadership role in Destino and that he'd be effective and spirit filled in the leadership of this ministry to latino students.

    • Pray for the students coming to this conference from our schools, over 40 from the Davis and Sac State ministries. Pray that they'd be refreshed and fed by the conference and the Spirit.

  • Pray for us as we prepare for and travel to our Regional Staff and Student Conferences this month.
    • Coaches Training- To learn to train new staff members.

    • Crossroads Conference- A recruiting conference for our top student leaders.
      • Pray for the student leaders coming to this conference from our schools, about 15 from the Davis and Sac State ministries. Pray that they'd be refreshed and fed by the conference and the Spirit to lead them as they process all they learn and are challenged to. Pray that we would raise up some to go into full time ministry with Crusade, especially for the ethnic movements like Destino. We have three coming we would like to challenge to that specifically... Denise, Cindy and Bernardo.
      • Also, pray for us we will be learning so much ourselves for our new roles and we will also find out our summer assignment for next year.
    October 2008
  • Praise God for a quick delivery and healthy baby. Pray for our family as we adjust to being a family of four.
  • Pray for Amy as she continues to heal from the birth and has once again developed carpal tunnel in both hands from holding the new baby.
  • Pray for us as we prepare for our fall retreat Oct 24-26th.
    • Pray for the student leaders helping us plan and run this retreat, that they'd be refreshed and Spirit led in their preparations.
    • Also, pray for us we continue to reach out to freshman and invite them to come as this retreat will be a significant time for them to develop relationships in our group.
    • Pray for the new believers and non believers that will be joining us.
    • Pray for our staff team as we coordinate our 4 seperate ministries together for this retreat in addition to having UC Berkeley students and staff join us for the first time.
    August & September 2008
  • Praise God and pray for our expected baby as well as a healthy pregnancy. We have four more weeks to go until Miranda arrives. Specifically praise God that as Amy has not developed gestational Diabetes so far with this pregnancy. (It has been a huge relief of stress this time around as compared to our first pregnancy).
  • Praise God for all we learned this summer through our studies and Pray for us as we raise the funds needed to cover the seminary and travel expenses we still have to cover from our summer assignment at the Institute of Biblical Studies in Orlando this summer.
  • Pray for us as we prepare for the new school year at the same time we await and prepare for the arrival of our second daughter.
    • Pray for the returning student leaders, that they'd be refreshed and Spirit led coming into the new year.
    • Also, pray for us to easily reconnect with the students that accepted Christ the end of last year and plug them in.
    • Pray that God would be in the midst of all our plans for the new year.
    • Pray for our staff team as it has changed significantly this year, specifically pray for our new leaders David and Jenn.
    June & July 2008
  • Pray for us as we travel to our summer assignment in Orlando, Fl. We will be completing four of our staff required seminary courses at Campus Crusades Institute of Biblical Studies. Also, pray we raise the funds need for the seminary expenses and travel costs.
  • Praise God as we have seen him move this year more than ever before!

  • Pray for our staff team as we are going to have alot of transitions next year including...
    • Two new team leaders:
      • Dave Goefney
      • Jen Ip
    • Our Epic ministry will for the first time have muliple staff members on our campus, a huge blessing! Pray for this transition as Epic grows and becomes more independent on our campus.
    • Ken and I will continue to focus on building the Destino ministry. But, for the first time we will be counted among only a handful of staff nationwide dedicated to pioneering this ministry.
    • We will have one staff member dedicated solely to Sac State.
  • Pray for us as these transitions complicate the way we relate to each other as a team and stretch our resources once again.
  • Praise God... we are expecting baby Rustrum #2 at the end of summer.
    April 2008
  • Praise God as He has raised enough funds to cover our current ministry needs. We will now be able to finish the school year completely undistracted from our mission. Next year however, with the expected baby, our travel expenses will increase. We trust God to raise the needed funds for our ministry in the summer after our summer assignment in time for the fall quarter. This is a huge relief.
    March 2008
  • Pray for our organization Campus Crusade for Christ as there will be some re-organization of our ministries to better reach the entire campus community.
    • Pray for us and how this will affect our personal ministry as we have been asked to personally make some transition in our scope.
  • Continue to pray for us. We need to increase our support to meet our ministry needs as we are expecting our second child the end of summer. Pray for God to provide quickly to meet this need so we may continue to minister undistracted this year.
    February 2008
  • Our regions second "Destino" Conference is here once again. February 15-18th at the Warner Center Marriot in Woodland Hills. Please pray for us as we are in charge of the main sessions including arranging the MC's (which will be two students from our campus Rafa and Denise) and a testimony (given by Yayo from our campus) as well as the flow of each meeting. Our purpose is to raise up a generation of leaders from the Latino community to help fulfill the Great Commission on the college campus, in the community, and around the world!
    • Pray that God may perpare the student's hearts for what God is going to do at the conference and that lives would be changed.
    • Pray for travel mercies for students and staff traveling to the conference from around the country.
    • Pray for all involved in putting on this conference speakers, staff, and worship leaders to be sensitive to the Spirits leading.
    • Pray for the "Day of Faith" (Evangelism), that God would poor out His power over the students giving them boldness and words to share His Gospel, so that many would come to know Him.
    • Pray that students would go back to there campuses and communities glowing and eager to share with others more about our Savior Jesus Christ.
    December 2007
  • Praise God as Ken has seen another student trust Christ this past month... Raul. Pray for him and the four other students Ken has personally seen come to Christ so far this year:
    • Raul, Joshua, Jason, Osvaldo, & Illiana
    • Pray they would grow in their faith, that they would each complete the initial follow up bible studies, & that they would get involved with a spirit led fellowship whether a Crusade ministry or not.
  • Pray for us also, as we have recieved our summer assignment. We will be completing some of our required seminary courses through Campus Crusade in Florida. We will also act as the partnership coordinator for the El Salvador summer project again next year. We will not travel with the team leading the project there but we will coach them as they plan for the summer.
  • Continue to pray for Mike, Eric and Nalani who just joined staff and are full-time support raising. Pray the Lord raise their needed funds and send them back to campus soon.
    November 2007
  • Pray for the doors to remain open as we continue to reach the 2007 freshman class with the message of Christ. We've done alot of work but, there are still so many more that are open to meeting with us and hearing about the gospel... there is just not enough time in the day to meet with them all before they begin to be less open.
  • Pray for our regional staff and student leaders as we travel to Southern California to have our annual recruiting conference "Crossroads" Nov 16-18th. Pray that many of these key Jr's and Sr's would consider going into full-time ministry as a vocation after college whether with Crusade, a pastorate, or another missions organization.
  • Pray for us also, as we have requested to lead the El Salvador summer project again next year. Pray for God to direct our placement next summer.
    October 2007
  • Praise God as our intern Steph has completed her needed support and has reported to campus to work with Epic! This is a huge answer to prayer for us and a relief of stress for Ken as he will not be responsible for leading two movements by himself anymore. Ken will coach Steph as she leads Epic. This will free Ken up to focus on Building Destino at UC Davis and Launching Destino at Sac State.
  • Pray for our staff and students as we have our "Fall Retreat" Oct. 26-28th.
    September 2007
  • Pray for our two campuses as we launch the new year. That we would reach the incoming Freshman class with the message of Christ.
    • Sacramento State University on September 4th.
    • UC Davis on September 24th.
  • Pray for our Staff team as we are a bit short handed to lead our multiple movements this year.
    • Ken will lead Destino and Epic this year. Epic, which is Crusades ministry to Asain American students, usually has it's own staff member dedicated from our team but Steph, our intern for Epic this year, is still raising her support. Pray the Lord to complete her support team by her deadline the end of this month or we will have no intern this year.
    • Dave, Jenn, & Jen will lead in the main Crusade movement together.
    • Jen who joined us this year from UC Irvine will also lead Alpha Omega our ministry to Fraternities and Sororities.
    • Dave will also lead Cru at Sac State this year.
    • Mike, who was on our team as an intern for Epic from 2004-06, has joined staff full-time and is raising his support full-time right now. Pray the Lord send him quickly.
    • Eric, who's been on our team since 2005, is also in full-time support raising as his new wife Nalani, who Amy discipled the last 2 years, just joined staff as well. Pray the Lord send them back quickly also.
    • Amy will be finishing up our support team needs so we may continue to minister undistractedly this year. Pray for God to provide quickly so Amy can focus on mentoring women again.
  • Pray for our student leaders and staff team as we plan the new year at our "Super Shepherd Team" retreat Sept. 14-16th and as we gear up for the Fall Quarter during pre-welcome week Sept 17th- 21st.

  • Pray for our team of 10 students that traveled with us to San Salvador to transition back to life in the States well.
  • Praise God and pray for the 18 students that accepted Christ while we were in San Salvador.
  • Pray for us also, as we will be traveling around Southern California visiting and fundraising to make up for an ongoing shortfall in financial support that we need to raise in order to continue to minister undistractedly.
    June/July 2007
  • Pray for us and our co-leader Noemma, as we plan and are going to leading the Destino partnership mission project to San Salvador, El Salvador this month. We leave on the 18th for briefing and fly to San Salvador on a redeye the 21st, we will return late July. Praise God for and pray for the 8 students from UC Davis Crusade and Destino that will be joining us on this project. In total we will be leading 11 students from around the country this summer.
  • In total, 46 students from UC Davis & 2 from Sac State will be going on Mission Projects all around the world this summer. Praise God!! Pray God would keep them safe as some are going into countries hostile to the Gospel. Pray for God to provide all the necessary funds for their project expenses.
  • Pray for our interns Tim and Beth as they plan and are going to lead our campuses partnership mission project ?Desert Rivers? to the Middle East. Praise God for and pray for the 11 students from UC Davis and Sac State Crusade that will be joining them on this project. In total Tim and Beth will be leading 20 students from around the country this summer.
  • Pray for us also, as we have to increase the amount of money we have raised in order to return to campus in the fall. We have been running short since just before Mia was born and need to raise $1300 a month by the end of August.
    May 2007
  • Pray for our staff team as we plan our Spring Retreat which will be May 18- 20. Pray for God to give us and our student leaders? wisdom as we develop plans for next year?s ministry at this retreat. Especially in light of the fact that we will have less full time staff to serve this ministry next year.
  • Pray for God to raise up a new generation of student leaders to Shepard in our 6 movements next year. Pray for God to guide us in our decisions to approach and challenge next years student leadership.
    April 2007
  • Pray for the combined Campus Crusade ministries at Davis as together we are planning a campus wide evangelical outreach ?I?ve found it? which will be held April 30- May 4.
    • That the message of the gospel would be heard.
    • That it would be a positive experience for our students, and that they would feel equipped to start spiritual conversations.
    • That our student leaders would not suffer from discouragement from all the man hours they are putting in to make this event possible.
    • For the Spirit to move on our campus.
    • That all involved in the outreach would feel refreshed and encouraged while ministering.
    • For unity amoung all the ministries that have been invited to be part of the outreach.
    March 2007
  • Pray for us as we plan to co-sponsor another Muslim/Christian debate April 12th. This is to follow up a debate that occurred in late Fall 06. The first debate inspired much spiritual dialogue and over 500 students attended.
  • Pray for our staff team as we are going to have some major transition in laborers for the coming year which is leaving us a bit short handed. Pray for God to raise up more laborers to minister to our six movements.
  • That God would be in the center of all the details planned for our San Salvador summer mission trip.

  • Pray that God will be with Ken and the regional leaders traveling to El Salvador March 12-16 to scout out details for our trip this summer.
  • Pray for our students involved in one of the ethnic student ministries (Epic, Destino, or Bridges) to go to the regional conferences for their ministries Feb 16-19. Pray for their travels to be safe and for God to use these conferences to grow, challenge, and inspire them.
  • Pray for our staff team as we continue to pursue building multiple spiritual movements on our campus so that every student might know someone who knows Jesus.
  • Pray for Kelly, Noemma, and Nalani, three women Amy is discipling, as they each follow Gods call in their lives and are intending to go into full time ministry as a vocation. Pray for Amy as she leads them till they graduate in June. Praise God for all He is doing in their lives.
    January 2007
  • Pray for safe travels for our family as we travel to Texas this month for Mission Project Leaders Training. Also, that God would be in the center of all the details planned for the San Salvador trip.
  • Pray for Noemma, one of our senior leaders in Destino, as she has committed to come along Ken and I to help lead the mission project to San Salvador. Pray for unity between the three of us.
  • Pray for Campus Crusade students from Davis to be led to join us on this project, particularly those from Davis Destino.
  • Pray that God will be with Ken and all involved in the planning of our regions first Destino Conference which will be Feb 16-19. Pray that God would lead our students to go, and that He would use the conference to work in their lives.
  • Pray for Davis Campus Crusade men?s and women?s retreats which are being planned by our student Shepard Team. Pray that our student leaders would be lead by the Spirit as they put together these weekends. Pray God would work through these weekends. Feb 2-4
  • Pray for Ken as he leads our staff team in the launch of the new semester of Sac State Campus Crusade: Jan 30? Feb 2. Specifically pray for them to find leaders to start two new movements on this campus, for Epic and Destino. Pray for God to bring the increase and to raise up spiritual leaders.
    December 2006
  • Praise God for Emilia, Cassandra, Vanessa, and Alex who have all committed their lives to God this Fall Quarter in Destino?s ministry through Campus Crusade for Christ.
  • Pray they would allow go through the new believers follow up lessons and that they would grow quickly in their faith.
  • Pray for God to lead our Campus Crusade students to go to our Annual Christmas Conference in San Diego. Pray that they would have safe travel and that God would use the conference to impact and grow them.
    November 2006
  • Pray for Alex to accept Christ as his savior. Ken met with him and shared the gospel with him earlier this month.
  • Pray for our graduating student leaders to be lead to attend ?Crossroads?, Nov. 17-19, a conference designed to encourage our students to dedicate themselves to ministry in their life plans after college. Pray students would be lead to go into ministry full time and consider joining us and serve God through Campus Crusade for Christ.
  • We thought we would give a couple of health updates that continue to need prayer:
    • Praise God Amy?s Gestational Diabetes is resolved! But, to reduce the risk of future high risk pregnancies and adult onset Diabetes Amy is currently working on losing weight and improving health.
    • Since the birth of Mia, Amy has developed Carpal Tunnel in both wrists; she is experiencing much pain at night and probably needs surgery. With a need baby, this seems improbable both practically and financially. For now, wearing braces at night is relieving most of the pain. Pray that she would be healed without resorting to surgery.
    • Pray for Ken?s health as he has once again dislocated his left shoulder; this time from lifting a bike on top of our car while taking one of our students home. We have restarted the process here in Davis for Ken to get evaluated for surgery. The process has been long and frustrating. Pray that he would be healed without resorting to surgery as well.
    • Thank God for keeping us on our Knees.

  • Praise God & pray for the twelve students at UCD that have accepted Christ since the beginning of the fall quarter! Three of which were reached through our Hispanic outreach, Destino!
  • Pray for our team as we continue to expand our ministry at UCD and now to Sacramento State through a multiple movement strategy. Our team is now responsible for six separate movements.
  • Pray for us as we continue to adjust to being a family of three. Mia is healthy, beautiful, and a pure joy!
  • Pray for Amy as she heads the coordination of our Fall Retreat; Oct 27-29. Integrating our six movements into one united retreat is a bit tricky.
  • Pray for us to remain submitted to the Holy Spirit in all we do.

  • Pray for our team as we will be launching 6 separate movements on two different campuses this month.
  • Pray for our interns Beth and Tim, who graduated from UCD this past spring, to raise all of their needed funds to join us on campus this month. We could really use the help.

  • Pray for our summer as we will be building up our support base, to accommodate a new addition to our family as well as make up for some substantial decreases in monthly support, all while adjusting from a family of two to a family of three.

  • Pray for Ken as he continues to work within the Hispanic community at UCD.
  • Praise God & pray for our team as we wrap up our ministries on campus this year and plan for next year. We have been given, as a team, the exciting opportunity to launch a new ministry on Sac State next year!
  • Pray for Amy?s pregnancy to be free of any more complications. She?s been diagnosed with pregnancy induced diabetes and has been told she may have to have the baby induced at the 39th week. Pray Mia to be healthy whatever way she comes.

  • Praise God & pray for the 17 students who indicated they placed their faith in Christ through our ?Porn Nation? outreach in January. Also pray for us as we follow them up.
  • Pray for Amy to have a continued healthy pregnancy. Amelia Rachael (Mia) is due in June.
  • Pray for safe travel for Ken and more than 60 UCD students traveling to New Orleans over our spring break to do Katrina Relief work.

  • Pray for Ken as he tries to identify key Hispanic students at UC Davis to help launch a new Crusade Latino group called Destino.
  • Pray for Javier, Noemma, and Alvaro who have already committed to helping lead as we launch this new movement.
  • Praise God and pray for Juan, Jerad, Linda, Brandon, and Brandon who have placed their faith in Christ so far this year through our movement.

  • Pray for Ken as he's been asked to lead a seperate movement on campus. A sub ministry of Campus Crusade, Destino. It's a ministry targeted at Latino's. Pray that it would grow and that it would reach the lost.
  • Pray that God would raise up leaders for Destino
  • Pray for Noemma, Javier and Alvaro, there Campus Crusade students committed to being Destino leaders. Pray that God would grow them.
  • Pray for the Tercero dorms, that God would raise up freshman students for the men's and women's studies we are leading there in the main Crusade Movement.
  • Pray for Davis
    • It is very liberal
    • There is a lot of deception and humanistic philosophy going on there
    • Pray for the moving of the Spirit on that campus
  • Pray that we would be encouraged and refreshed while we are ministering

  • We?ve taken a step of faith selling our home and preparing to move to Davis in time for the fall semester.
  • Pray the Lord to complete our support team, and that all pledges would come in with time for us to go on campus full time for the fall semester.
  • Pray for our home to close escrow Tuesday without any more hitches. It almost fell out of escrow Friday but God miraculously provided another buyer with a full cash offer!!!! It should only delay the close of escrow by one day!!!! Praise God!
  • Pray for a safe move.
